Influence of solvent choice and operating conditions on Chlorzoxazone crystal shape and size

Solubility of pharmaceutical drugs in organic solvents is one the important parameters to understand equilibrium concentration solute-solvent, which helps optimize and design crystallization conditions obtain desired product crystals. In present study, Chlorzoxazone (CHZ) used as a model compound investigate solubility, influence solvent operating on shape, size distribution. The solubility CHZ determined like Isopropanol, Ethanol, 2-Ethoxyethylacetate, Ethylacetate Ethyllactate using shake flask method from -5ºC 60ºC. these shows an increasing trend temperature increases following order: ethyllactate + water (0.5+0.5) < ethylacetate isopropanol ethanol 2-ethoxyethylacetate (0.75+0.25). solvents, isopropanol, ethanol, ethyl lactate, produce needle-shaped crystals, while acetate tend plate shaped crystals obtained have with lower aspect ratio are selected for batch cooling experiments performed at different rates, agitation. It found that agitation 300 rpm rate 0.2ºC/min more uniform crystal
